It's about damn time.

In the eleventh hour before their schedule hearing today, the Giants signed Tim Lincecum to a multi-year deal , though the terms haven't been disclosed just yet.

This settles the arbitration case where the two sides were $5 million apart. Lincecum wanted $13 million, San Fran wanted to give him $8 million.

The most amazing thing about all of this is Lincecum made only $650,000 bucks last year. That has to be the lowest salary for a Cy Young award winner since the first million dollar contract was signed by Nolan Ryan in 1979.

The rumor is Lincecum's new contract will be worth more than 10 times his old deal. Now that's a nice raise.

I'm really sick of hearing about this so called great story that’s resulted from the Saints Super Bowl victory and what it means to New Orleans.

Sure, it brings a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment to a city that was, and still is, devastated by Hurricane Katrina. It can even be said that there's a sense of hope in the community because the team finally picked up all the pieces from losing so much as a franchise and put it all together to accomplish their ultimate goal.

But really, what does all this mean for the city of New Orleans?

The win won't build the city back up, it won't bring more jobs to the city, it won't even bring the city a single cent! The only city profiting off this Super Bowl is Miami because the game was held there.

I hope no one really thinks because New Orleans won the Super Bowl that tourists will now come to the city. The only reason people will flood the city, no pun intended, is because of Mardi Gras. No more or no less of people will come to NOLA because the Saints won the Super Bowl.

So please, let's stop talking about how great of a story this is for the city of New Orleans after what happened with Katrina. It's a terrible story because of what happened with Katrina.

They wouldn't need the restoration of hope if it weren't for the tragedy so how is that a good thing?

It's good the people of New Orleans can feel better for a week or so, but when that feeling runs off they'll look around and still be devastated.

Don't take the 2010-11 NFL season for granted. Enjoy it like there won't be football played for a while after because at least one insider in the labor negotiations believes a lockout is guaranteed once the current contract expires in March 2011.

NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith says the chances of a lockout next year on a scale from one to ten is a "14".

Commissioner Roger Goodell doesn't agree with Smith. He says the owners know it's bad for business to not come up with some sort of an agreement.

Goodell also states he doesn't feel a lockout would be best for the players or the fans. Well, no **** Sherlock.

Another thing that isn't good for the game is an uncapped year, which it looks more and more like that's going to be the case for the 2010 season. And once there's one season that's uncapped it's nearly impossible to make the next season capped. Try telling a quarterback that he isn't worth as much as a defensive lineman just because his contract was signed a year later. Then get back to me and tell me how that works out.

Right now the labor agreement proposed is for the players to cut their revenue sharing percentage from 59% to 41%. The only way I see any chance of this happening is if there is no salary cap so the players will still get their money.

Players play for the love of the game, but they also know this is a business. They aren't about to get screwed so the team's billionaire owner can pocket more money in hopes that he'll improve stadium facilities to appease Goodell's taste for what a football stadium should look like and include.

Goodell wants improved facilities. Owners want to maximize their profits. Players want to maximize their profits. Fans want to enjoy football and be able to afford to watch a game live in person.

If Goodell gets his way, owners will lose profits and players will lose profits which will chain react into inflation on tickets and concession costs at games, causing less fans to be able to afford to watch a game live in person.

This will cause plummeting ticket and concession sales which will cause teams that are currently struggling to have to move cities. That's never good for fans to lose the team they love.

Maybe the facilities will generate more money down the road, but that's only going to come from the people with more money that can afford to go to these games. And in this era that's only the high class people. The only people going to games will be wealthy people, which will demean home field advantage because these people are on average not as rabid sports fans.

It's a chain reaction that in the long run hurts everyone and everything having to deal with the game.

Fidel Goodell, get over your egotistical ideas and leave the game as it is. It's perfect, nothing needs to be changed. Not one fan cares more about the facility their team plays in compared to the integrity of the game as a whole.

Since when did it become legal to blackmail?

It seems there's a coalition called the Nasty Ass Bitches (NAB) that have a list of men to blackmail.

Well, the newest victim just got checked off their list... Michael Irvin. In the past it's been Ben Roethlisberger, Kobe Bryant, and a ton of others.

The NAB find athletes and millionaires in a drunken state of mind, then hang their one night chiqui chiqui bang bang over their heads. When the man says they aren't giving the hors money, the NAB claim rape, make it public, and take it to court. Most of the time this causes the athletes and millionaires reputation to be damaged and their jobs to be lost.

I don't get how a woman can claim rape three years after it happened and not even file a criminal suit! How is that legal?! These women make outrageous claims of rape when they are obviously just gold diggin tramps out for the money because they only file civil suits!

Who the hell wakes up one morning and thinks... hmmm, I kind of remember like three years ago Michael Irvin did me in one night and I don't think I really wanted it to happen. That man raped me!

I know if Irvin put his sh--long inside of me I'd remember the next morning. I'd be forced to remember from the pain, bleeding, and swelling in my buttocks region.

The NAB is in it all for the money. When are the courts going to start dismissing these stupid claims and realize what’s going on?

If you been raped female dog, then report it the next day. Don't wait years down the road during Super Bowl weekend to say hey... I got raped by this millionaire athlete back in the day, it's time for my pay day. If you women are serious then tell someone the next day. That way you'll get your money sooner and it will be more believable.

I'm so happy Irvin isn't giving into a settlement and he's counter suing. It's about time one of these guys stand up for them selves because it's obvious the judges won't.

Flex that muscle Rex Ryan.

About the only muscle he has is in his middle finger. Everything else in his body is completely blubberized besides his tactile members.

From that gobbling turkey neck down to his cankles this guy is just loaded with lard.

So it's reasonable that when he's angry this is the only gesture he can physically make. It's not like he can lift his giggly arms to throw a punch.

After that comment Ryan made to Channing Crowder about how he's walked over tougher guys than that in a fight there was a little heated rivalry. But now that Ryan has shown some physical attributes with the bird flip, Crowder said he has respect for the man because he also likes flipping people off.

Well, Jets owner Woody Johnson doesn't like the middle finger flash so he fined Rex 50 "large". I'm sure Ryan doesn't mind, he's got a pretty "hefty" pocket book. And word has it that when Ryan heard the news of the fine, he walked into Johnson's office and showed him the only physical activity he knows how to do. He gave him the old filp-a-rooske.

Aren't the Yankees amazing? Somehow they can even manage to get a Winn in the offseason. Randy Winn that is.

Pending a physical, Winn will be the latest Yankee outfielder that can barely make a throw to his cut off man.

I don't know how much Winn can help New York... well... win, especially considering the fact he's played the most games out of any active Major Leaguer without a post season appearance. Plus he's 35 and it doesn't look like he's on the Barry Bonds regimen where he'll have his best years late in his career.

With this it pretty much sets in stone that Johnny Damon won't return. It's sad to see Damon go, but, actually no it's not. Who the hell cares? That guy used to be a freggin' Red Sock anyway. He's a trader. Hey Damon, thanks for helping out getting us another ring, now go change your hair style again to try and get people to notice you. I swear that guy must really be right handed the way he throws lefty. I'd rather have a 98 year old Kenny Lofton with no arms and no legs out there when a guy's rounding third.

And Damon's agent, my favorite person in the world Scott Boras, says the Yanks couldn't afford Johnny in their budget. Yea, right. And Bill Gates can't afford a trip to Disney World next weekend. I think the Yankees just got tired of watching every team hit the ball to left field whenever a runner was in scoring position.

All and all, it's a win win for Winn, no pun intended. $2 million bucks to play with the defending World Champions sounds nice and green to me. And the Yankees can now let some of their young bucks take over in left whenever Winn needs a day off to rest his old wrinkly ass.

Taking the year off when your contract expires doesn't normally result in a nice new contract once you're ready to come back to work. Oh, if the rest of us were so lucky to be Ben Sheets.

Yesterday, just a season removed from a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow, Sheets signed a one year, $10 million contract with the Oakland Athletics.

And supposedly the economy is tanking. I guess the A's missed the memo. Or maybe they just failed to realize that the elbow Sheets tore the tendon in is on his PITCHING arm.

Take advantage of the time Big Ben because if your record stays mediocre as it has throughout your career, 86-83, you'll never get this great of a deal again.

Sheets has 1206 K's compared to 313 BB's, which is remarkable for fantasy sports owners. But the real gauge in real life will be if he can catapult the A's out of the American League West's cellar and back to the playoffs.

This is the defining year of Sheets career. He'll either regain his stature as one of the best in the league and become a Yankee by 2011, or he'll fizzle out and take a seat on the "what could have been" train next to Kerry Wood and Mark Prior.
